Sexual harrassment: The Lord will afflict with scabs the heads of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will lay bare their secret parts.
Rape: The Lord has spoken. . . . it is for the greatness of your iniquity that your skirts are lifted up, and you are violated [raped] . . . because you have forgotten me and trusted in lies. I myself will lift up your skirts over your face, and your shame will be seen.
The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.
Jerusalem sinned grievously, so she has become a mockery . . . Her uncleanness was in her skirts.
Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer.
O that I might have my request, and that God would grant my desire; that it would please God to crush me, that he would let loose his hand and cut me off! This would be my consolation; I would even exult in pain unsparing; for I have not denied the words of the Holy One.
I am against you, says the Lord of hosts, and will lift up your skirts over your face; and I will let nations look on your nakedness and kingdoms on your shame.
The Lord killeth, and maketh alive.
See now that I, even I, am he; there is no god beside me. I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand.
You said, “Woe is me! for the Lord has added sorrow to my pain; I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest.” . . . Thus says the Lord . . . I am bringing evil upon all flesh, says the Lord.
Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it?
Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.
Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.
For thus says the Lord: “Behold, I am slinging out the inhabitants of the land at this time, and I will bring distress on them, that they may feel it.” Woe is me because of my hurt! My wound is grievous. But I said, “Truly this is an affliction, and I must bear it.”
Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways!
Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.
And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant.
Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
Let them now that fear the Lord say, that his mercy endureth for ever.
Therefore I am terrified at his presence; when I consider, I am in dread of him. God has made my heart faint; the Almighty has terrified me.
Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. . . . But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children.
Sanctify the Lord of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.
Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid.
The Lord said: Because the daughters of Zion are haughty and walk with outstretched necks, glancing wantonly with their eyes, mincing along as they go, tinkling with their feet; the Lord will afflict with scabs the heads of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will lay bare their secret parts.
A cup of horror and desolation is the cup of your sister Samaria; you shall drink it and drain it out, and gnaw its sherds, and tear out your breasts.
